Take Action by Phone
Find your Congressman or Congresswoman on this website: http://whoismyrepresentative.com/ or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please don’t hesitate to ask us for help as sometimes it can be hard to find out who your Representative is!
Locate your representative’s phone number, which should also be listed on the http://whoismyrepresentative.com/, and leave them this voice message:
“I am calling today from ______ to urge Representative _____ to please sign the fiscal year 2011 Peace Corps funding Dear Colleague letter, being circulated by Congressman Sam Farr’s office. Thank you for your past support of the Peace Corps. The purchasing power of Peace Corps remains a third of what it was in 1966. There are new countries that want volunteers and a growing number of Americans that wish to serve. 2011 also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Peace Corps. To sign the letter, I understand you will need to contact Marc Hanson in Congressman Sam Farr’s office (email@example.com). If you do sign the letter, I’d appreciate it if you could let me know. I served in Peace Corps in ____.”
Once you call your Congressman/Congresswoman, please send a quick e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with his or her name in the title so we can keep track of advocacy. Also, let us know what you are hearing! We are extremely grateful for the time and energy you invest into this.
